July 7, 2007The New 7 Wonders of the World are announced in Lisbon, during a star-studded gala. At the end of the ceremony, Bernard Weber announces the current campaign to choose the New7Wonders of Nature.
March 7, 2007The New7Wonders World Tour comes to a close as the New7Wonders airship soars above a snow-frosted Statue of Liberty.
2006  
September 5, 2006The New7Wonders World Tour launches in Athens and Lisbon, Portugal is announced as the host city for the Official Declaration ceremony announcing the New 7 Wonders of the World
January 2006The most extensive global media response is experienced during the first month of 2006. Over 1,000 articles about the New 7 Wonders campaign (N7W) appear in the world's leading publications and hundreds of TV features are shown on national and regional stations. As a result, more than 25 percent of the world's population is now aware of the N7W campaign.

On New Year's day, 2006, the N7W 21 finalist candidates are announced by Prof. Dr. Federico Mayor at the the N7W headquarters located in the Le Corbusier museum in Zurich, Switzerland

December 2, 2005
The last two New7Wonders Panel of Experts members, Yung Ho Chang from China and Azis Tayob from South Africa, are confirmed as having committed to serve through the end of the year in support of the 21 finalist selection process.
November 24, 2005
With just one month to go before the shortlist of finalist sites is announced in Zurich on January 1, 2006, another thirteen sites around the globe join the race to be named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, for a grand total of 177 nominated sites.

The N7W television series program is presented to the ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) members at their annual meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Two of the world’s leading names in architecture join the campaign to identify the New 7 Wonders of the World. Zaha Hadid from Great Britain and Tadao Ando from Japan confirm their participation in the panel of experts that will select the 21 N7W finalists.
October 28, 2005
N7W visits the 1972 Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany and celebrates its nomination together with Munich’s mayor, Christian Ude, and other officials in the N7W balloon taking off in the gigantic and spectacular stadium.

The New7Wonders® campaign announces that it has issued an open invitation to cities across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the world to become the Official Host Venue of New7Wonders® from 2005 to 2015.

New 7 Wonders of the World is on show at Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan. The campaign to name the New 7 Wonders of the World is a highlight of Switzerland's presence at Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan. Visitors to the Swiss Pavilion have the chance to learn all about this historic project to identify the Earth’s artistic, architectural and cultural treasures and they are invited to vote for their choice of wonder online at computer ballot boxes in the pavilion's exit area.

The N7W global campaign celebrates the nominations of the fairy-tale Neuschwanstein castle in Schwangau, Germany and the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany.

The Austro-Australian architect Harry Seidler is announced as a member of the New7Wonders Panel of Experts. Seidler is the author of "The Grand Tour," a photo documentation of the most beautiful buildings in the world to have been constructed since 3,000 BC.
January 31, 2005
The decision is made to extend the voting and nomination windows of the N7W campaign due to tremendous popular demand. N7W nominations will continue to be accepted until December 24, 2005. Short-listed candidates will be announced on January 1, 2006. A new date is set for the final announcement of the New 7 Wonders of the World: July 7, 2007 - 07.07.07.
January 27-28, 2005
N7W visits the Alhambra in Granada, Spain as part of the 6th anniversary celebrations of the satellite and cable broadcaster CNN+. N7W is welcomed by the Alhambra's director, Maria del Mar Villafranca. The N7W hot air balloon is flown over the Alhambra Palace and followed live on CNN+. All major media in Spain cover the event.

The Argentine-born American architect Cesar Pelli is announced as a member of the New7Wonders Panel of Experts. Pelli designed, among other buildings, the Petronas Towers in Malaysia, the second tower of the Hong Kong Financial Centre, and Canary Wharf in the UK.

The former Director-General of UNESCO, Professor Dr. Federico Mayor Zaragoza, is announced as the President of the New7Wonders Panel of Experts, which will pare the top-rated 77 nominations down to just 21 finalists on January 1, 2006.
December 1, 2004
N7W visits the Taj Mahal in the company of Indian movie actress, and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai, to confirm its nomination. The event sparks a rush of votes from India–250,000 votes just in the week following the event. More than two dozen more potential Indian “wonders” are also nominated.

N7W events during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games include a N7W balloon flight over the Acropolis, a N7W helium balloon launch with vote-driving postcards attached, an event with children from a local SOS Children's Village at Athens Cathedral, and voting via virtual computer ballot boxes installed at the House of Switzerland during the Games.

Juli 2003The "Welt der Wunder" (German for "World of Wonders") TV program features the New 7 Wonders campaign in its seventh anniversary program aired on Pro7, a private TV channel in Germany. A record number of people call in to win a trip to one of the N7W candidate sites, Easter Island.
June 2003The South China Morning Post publishes a full-page article commenting on the unexpectedly large Chinese participation in the N7W project.

December 8, 2002 The N7W website is re-launched with updated, interactive technology.
October 2002
Chinese visitors discover the N7W web site and, within a few weeks, China takes the voting lead. Up to 70,000 votes are cast each day from China during this time.
April 2002 Mexico becomes the nation to cast the most votes, but is soon topped by Peru.
February 2002 Turkey sets a new record in N7W voting participation, taking over the lead from the USA. An e-mail chain letter campaign started by Turkish Internet surfers drives the voting.

October 16, 2001 The Bamiyan Buddha Reconstruction Project is officially launched.
May 30, 2001 The application is filed for the New 7 Wonders Foundation to become an official, Swiss-registered charitable foundation.
May 1, 2001 The Bamiyan Buddha Reconstruction Project is born, founded by Bernard Weber for the New 7 Wonders Foundation, and the Foundation Bibliotheca Afghanica.

The one millionth vote is cast in the New 7 Wonders campaign.

The official nomination of the Sydney Opera House (link to "Sydney Opera House" page). The N7W sea plane landed in Sydney's harbour just one week before the opening of the 2000 Olympics. This event was covered by CNN and major Australian networks. Huge interest in the event prompted the first Internet overload for the site at www.new7wonders.com.
